As business owners, it is easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of operating our own business. Often, we run so fast that we forget about the smaller details that made us the business we’ve become today. Promptly following up with customers, responding to email and voicemail, or creating timely and engaging content are all significant steps for maintaining a successful business.

 

Let’s face it. It’s easy to start a business. But staying in business requires a lot more finesse.

If you want to increase sales and productivity, remember this simple rule: PLANNING IS KEY! Business planning is a critical piece in creating and maintaining a successful organization. For business owners, especially small business owners, this function is easily overlooked. We’re continually facing time constraints, limited personnel, and competitive challenges that falsely validate a mindset of "waiting until we have the time.” However, time never appears. Don't fall into this trap!

 

Instead, take time to map out your goals for the entire year and then break them down into quarters. Determine what day of the week works best for you to set a block of time aside to focus on those specific tasks tied to your goals. Breaking it down into smaller segments will help you achieve your goals in increments, without feeling overwhelmed.
